Oasis Collection: A Bronze Hardware Gem

The Rocky Mountain Hardware Oasis collection is a collaboration with RAMSA (formerly Robert A.M. Stern Architects) that features contemporary sculptural hardware with organic forms for doors and cabinetry.

Pleasant Contrast

Look up the definition of ‘Oasis,’ and you may be surprised at what you find. In addition to fertile land in the desert, an oasis can be described as a pleasant contrast, making it the perfect name for the newest Rocky Mountain Hardware Collection.

Oasis offers an intriguing combination of seemingly disparate elements. The pieces accent the hard, structural lines of doors and millwork with delicate beauty. Each piece is unique, showcasing the precision of carpentry and the creativity of jewelry-making in one artful composition. These designs create an eye-catching contrast, blending the structural and the creative to create something new.

Collaborating with RAMSA

According to Nickum, the Oasis Collection was born from collaboration with the globally renowned architectural firm RAMSA (Robert A.M. Stern Architects). Lauren Kruegel Siroky, RAMSA interiors design director, and senior associate, presented three separate visions for a collaborative collection at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in 2019. RMH chose the Oasis concept for its unique inspiration and diverse styling potential.

Finding Inspiration

“When collaborating with other artisans, we try not to place limitations on their creativity,” said Nickum. “We have found that an open approach inspires fresh ideas while prompting our design and production teams to achieve them within the confines of our casting techniques,” he continued. Oasis is a direct outcome of this open creative strategy.

The Oasis Collection takes inspiration from historical architectural references such as the Arts and Crafts movement, jewelry, and gem cutting, resulting in a versatile, unexpected, and delicate collection.

Contrast and Detail

The Oasis Collection is incomparable to other hardware on the market.

The collection’s fluid organic forms give it a timeless and sophisticated feel. The sculptural pulls, locks, and levers are fashioned from white or silicon bronze and fit so naturally in the palm of your hand. Many of the pieces in the Oasis collection are embellished with an open ring that resembles elegant jewelry.

Each piece is consistent yet completely individual. “Everything we create is shaped, molded, cast, and finished by hand, with twelve different patinas that bring warmth and brilliance to the hardware,” said Nickum.

The collection has broad appeal and can be used in a luxury residential project or a boutique hotel that relies on unique details to distinguish it as easily as it can be installed in a custom home. Every piece in the Oasis collection is adaptable to what’s new and trending in the world of home design while seamlessly complementing the entire catalog of Rocky Mountain Hardware offerings.

Door Hardware and Cabinet Pulls

Door hardware and cabinet pulls are some of the highest touch surfaces in our homes. Because of this, the collaborators at RAMSA and RMH had a vision to create pieces that would be familiar and comforting while offering something unexpected. “We wanted to take something predictable but add a gesture to turn it on its head,” said Lawrence Chabra, RAMSA Interiors Studio Director and Associate. With organic shapes and sensual curves, the Oasis Collection elevates these necessary pieces of hardware to touchable modern art.

– Customization

Customization is one of the fundamental attributes of Rocky Mountain Hardware. Designers can select the various items and sizes needed and custom finishes. Our pieces continue to evolve based on the demands of each project. We can easily accommodate a different color preference or size and modify pieces for custom doors and cabinetry.
